DMV hits Colorado Springs driving school with suspension for alleged fraud
A Colorado Springs driving school will be forced to hit the brakes on its ongoing courses after the Colorado Division of Motor Vehicles issued a suspension on Friday for alleged fraud.
The DMV’s investigation found, at least since March 2025, the Academy School of Driving allegedly falsified written tests, shortened driving tests, charged up to $600 for “guaranteed results” and manipulated the division’s appointment system.
All testing operations by ASD, which is located along North Academy Boulevard with a DMV location within sight of its parking lot, must cease pending a disciplinary hearing. The DMV’s investigation remains ongoing and additional regulatory actions may be taken.
The division will cancel 460 licenses and plans to discipline ASDs employees involved in the activity. All students currently enrolled at the school must complete their driving education at another location.
Any impacted customers can visit the DMV’s webpage for the incident for guidance on next steps.
ASD did not respond to a request for comment from The Gazette. The school’s front door had a handwritten sign on it stating it was closed until further notice.
