77-year-old woman identified as victim in fatal Colorado Springs crash
Colorado Springs police identified the victim of a fatal collision on March 22 in the Briargate area as 77-year-old Deanna Stemler, according to a news release by the department on Friday.
Stemler’s vehicle was hit head-on at about 8:15 p.m. near Briargate Boulevard and Lexington Drive after one of two vehicles reportedly racing through the area entered oncoming traffic. Police say Stemler was rushed to a hospital, where she later was pronounced dead.
Speed is being investigated as a “contributing factor” in the crash, according to the release.
There have been 11 traffic fatalities this year in Colorado Springs and 59 within the past 12 months.
