Shelomi Sanders, daughter of Deion Sanders, transfers to CSU Pueblo to play women’s basketball
Shelomi Sanders had a succinct message to announce her transfer to the Steel City.
“Right place, right time,” Sanders said Thursday evening via Instagram to reveal her transfer to Colorado State University Pueblo’s women’s basketball program.
Sanders, the daughter of University of Colorado football coach Deion Sanders, will play for the ThunderWolves next season following two years at Alabama A&M University.
The senior’s career began at Jackson State University, a historically Black college and university in Jackson, Mississippi, in 2022 and continued in 2023 in Boulder. Sanders’ brothers, Shedeur and Shilo, both played football at Jackson State and CU with Deion at the helm of both football programs.
CSU Pueblo’s women’s basketball team finished 13-15 last season under coach Tommie Johnson, who will enter his eighth year as coach of the ThunderWolves next season.
Shortly after Sanders’ announcement, Deion shared the post and showered his daughter with praise.
“I’m so proud of (you), baby girl,” Deion wrote in an Instagram post. “Yes, yes, yes. Thank you Lord, thank you coach T. Johnson, staff, and all the wonderful ladies on the team I had the honor to meet today. We smiled all the way back to Boulder. God is incredible. Coach, I appreciate (you) man.”
Sanders played 15 games last season at Alabama A&M and averaged 5.9 minutes and scored 1.2 points per game for the Bulldogs.
