Colorado Springs residents should expect highs in the 60s and 70s this week, with a chance of showers and thunderstorms, according to Gazette news partner KOAA.

Monday is expected to turn cloudy in the afternoon, with variable breezes and a high in the low 70s, News 5 Meteorologist Alan Rose said.

“Temperatures this afternoon will warm into the 60s in Teller County and our mountain valleys, with 70s and lower 80s on the Plains,” Rose said. “Any rain or snow should stay confined to areas near the higher terrain.”

Rose added that wind gusts in Colorado Springs and Pueblo will approach 20 to 25 mph.

A cold front on Monday evening will cool things down on Tuesday, and an atmospheric change will bring a chance of showers and thunderstorms in the Pikes Peak region, with snow at “around 9,000 to 10,000 feet,” Rose said.
