The Colorado Springs location of The Container Store, a specialty retailer that focuses on storage and organization products, is closing after roughly three and a half years. 

The company made the announcement on its website in March but offered no explanation for the closing. It did not respond to multiple requests for comment from The Gazette, and staff last week at the store in the Promenade Shops at Briargate, at 1925 Briargate Parkway on the north side of the city, could not comment. 

The store’s expected last day of operation is April 25, according to staff there. It opened in September 2022, according to past coverage, and moved in next door to an Arhaus Furniture and women’s clothing store Anthropologie. 

The Container Store Group Inc., founded in 1978 in Dallas and growing to more than 100 stores, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in 2024; it emerged from bankruptcy protection in January 2025 as a privately held company, with the CEO stating: “This is a new chapter in our journey as a healthier company well positioned to drive strategic growth initiatives forward.”

But issues persisted and the company closed several locations nationwide, with the Colorado Springs store apparently becoming the latest casualty. 

Bed Bath & Beyond announced Thursday it was acquiring The Container Store for $150 million. A letter to shareholders from Marcus Lemonis, executive chairman and CEO of Bed,Bath & Beyond, said the deal is expected to close in July; the locations, he said, will be branded as The Container Store/Bed Bath and Beyond. 

Aside from the Springs location, there are three Container Store locations in Colorado, all in the Denver metro area:

• Park Meadows Mall: 8687 Park Meadows Center Drive, Lone Tree.
• Flatirons Mall: 51 W. Flatiron Crossing Drive, Broomfield.
• Cherry Creek Mall: 3110 E. 1st Ave., Denver.
