Kinley Asp has reopened her college basketball recruitment.  

The Air Academy senior announced the move to decommit from Boston College on Monday in an X post and will reenter the recruitment pool following a stout final season for the Kadets.

“With the recent coaching changes at Boston College,” Asp said in a post on X. “I have decided to reopen my recruitment. Trusting the process and excited for the future.”

On March 1, Boston College did not extend coach Joanna Bernabei-McNamee’s contract after a 5-26 season that ended with a 90-65 loss to Syracuse and a 1-17 Atlantic Coast Conference record. Bernabei-McNamee coached at Boston College for eight seasons and compiled a 113-132 record.

Asp announced her commitment to Boston College in September after several months of visits and after she trimmed her options to three schools: San Jose State, University of Central Florida and Boston College.

In her final year with the Kadets, Asp had a stellar season to cap her career that includes two championships, which she earned as a freshman and sophomore at Colorado Springs Christian, and a Final Four appearance as a junior for the Kadets.

Asp averaged a career-high 25.9 points, 7.1 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 4.4 steals in her final year with the Kadets and helped lead the team to the Elite Eight.
