On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights, Garden of the Gods Road, east of Interstate 25, will narrow to one lane in each direction as Colorado Springs construction crews wrap up an intersection safety project.

The closures were announced in a Monday news release from the city and will be enforced to protect workers as they stripe the crosswalks at the intersections of Mark Dabling Boulevard and Northpark Drive with Garden of the Gods Road.

The $1.96 million intersection and median improvement project on Garden of the Gods Road started in October and is expected to wrap up by the end of March.

The city says that when the project is complete, medians along Garden of the Gods will be lengthened to prevent motorists from crossing all six lanes of traffic, among other safety improvements.
