An airplane crashed Saturday near the Springs East Airport in the Ellicott and Calhan area, sending one person to the hospital with unknown injuries, according to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office.

The Federal Aviation Administration is the lead investigative agency.

No other details were immediately available.
