Late-night burglary, damage leaves Manitou Springs store owner with about $15,000 in loss

A late-night burglary at a Manitou Springs jewelry store left a store owner with about $15,000 in losses, city police said in a social media post Tuesday.

Lane Mitchell Jewelers, 737 Manitou Ave., had merchandise stolen and its property damaged March 4, according to police.

“Fortunately, Lane Mitchell Jewelers follows safety protocols and takes precautions so everything of value goes in a safe at night, so nothing valuable was stolen,” a co-owner of the store told police.

Security cameras captured images of the suspect as well as the vehicle believed to be involved.

The suspect is described as a male between 6-foot-2 and 6-4 with a thin build. The vehicle involved is believed to be a white or silver hatchback or small SUV, the social media post stated.
