Colorado Springs police on Sunday arrested a suspect after an investigation into a string of garage break-ins, according to an online blotter entry.

Eric Vasquez, 42, faces multiple charges including burglary, obstruction and criminal mischief, police said.

In February, detectives noticed a pattern among several garage burglaries in Colorado Springs and other locations along the Front Range. A few weeks into the investigation, they identified Vasquez as a primary suspect. Vasquez was a suspect in similar crimes in Castle Rock, having been arrested and released in December.

On Sunday, police found Vasquez’s vehicle parked in the 6400 block of Showhorse Court, near North Carefree Circle on the city’s east side. When Vasquez entered his vehicle, tactical officers approached him and he tried to drive away. When that failed, he tried to escape on foot, getting as far as a neighbor’s yard before he was caught.

Police are investigating to determine the extent of Vasquez’s alleged criminal behavior, officials said.
