LETTERS: Subsidizing homelessness; “I just had a feeling”

Stop subsidizing homelessness

Homelessness is a misnomer.  These street people are bums and vagrants who are spongeing off of the working class. The only way to reduce homelessness is to stop subsidizing it.

The state of California spends $billions on the problem of homelessness.  While the state has about 13% of the total population of the USA, it has 38% of all the homeless people.

There is a homeless industrial complex funding the bums.  FDR warned us about this when he said, “The lessons of history, confirmed by the evidence immediately before me, show conclusively that continued dependence upon relief induces a spiritual and moral disintegration fundamentally destructive to the national fibre. To dole out relief in this way is to administer a narcotic, a subtle destroyer of the human spirit. It is inimical to the dictates of sound policy. It is in violation of the traditions of America. Work must be found for able-bodied but destitute workers.” Let’s stop subsidies to the the people who call themselves “homeless” and they will go away!

Like it’s the Indy 500

You observe a vehicle in your rear view mirror bearing down on you at a high rate of speed,hell-bent on passing, on your left or right like it’s the Indy 500.

At times you will meet at an upcoming red light, unless the driver has run it.If you slow down to make a turn or negotiate a lane closure, you may experience a driver behind you, stomping on the gas pedal to swerve around you, laying on the horn, or flipping you off. sometimes all three. There have been six traffic fatalities in Colorado Springs so far this year as compared to one at the same time last year as per the Gazette Tuesday, March 10.

Speed has been investigated as a contributing factor in the majority of these tragic incidents. I am certain that driving scofflaws will not read this, but maybe mom or dad, grandma or grandpa, friend or neighbor will instill this message to a loved one. Please Slow Down.

Wrong side of every issue

Does anyone beside me realize that the Democrats refusal to fund the Department of Homeland Security has put every American who plans to fly at risk.  Do they care that the American public is being endangered by their misguided obstinance?

They continually put their politics above the safety of the American public.  Do they care, apparently not.  Why is that party always on the wrong side of every issue.  The party of “no”.  No to homeland security, no to American citizens over illegal immigrants, no to supporting our troops, no to requiring citizens to prove citizenship to vote, no to eliminating Iran, a terrorist regime that has killed thousands of Americans, no to any common sense issue and a big no to anything President Trump supports.  They continually put party ahead of country and patriotism.

At a time when this country is being threatened and its citizens are at great danger the Democrats refuse to fund Homeland Security.  Why, because they can!  They don’t care that thousands of employees (TSA, Coast Guard, and FEMA) are not getting paid, employees who are protecting us against terrorists, drug traffickers, and others.  They are holding hard working people hostage because they are angry with the way ICE is doing their job. Ironically, ICE has been funded for the next two years.  So, what have they accomplished – nothing!  Trump derangement syndrome has taken over once again.  Pitiful, these politicians should be ashamed.  But, sadly, they are not.

“I just had a feeling…”

I find it absolutely astounding that a President of the United States would start a war with another country because he just had a feeling that they were going to employ a nuclear weapon on America or Isreal or both.

Did he consult with the Joint Chiefs of Staff, seeking informed advice? He, with no military experience, an impulsive man-child bully who wants to brag about “saving America,” did not!

Did he consult the National Security Council regarding military readiness?

Did he remember that he and Elon Musk gutted our intelligence agencies early in his new administration, causing dozens upon dozens of the remaining veteran agents to resign in disgust and disdain for the leadership that was installed? Given the deadly reprisals that will undoubtedly occur on our own soil, does he realize how many FBI and DOJ personnel have either quit or been terminated, leaving us dangerously vulnerable?

Did he check in with anyone on the potential for attacks on other Middle East countries wherein American bases or interests lie? One of those is where the first American military deaths occurred.

Given his extensive education and memory, did he happen to know where the Strait of Hormuz was located and that it would be easily controlled by the Iranian navy, shutting down the oil supply for much of the world? Check your local gas station for that answer…

Did he stop to think that he has a booze-brained, wise-assed TV commentator leading the Department of Defense, who, besides causing fear and loathing among the troops, has made some incredibly stupid decisions?

Did he happen to check with economists who might have noted that Iran was a major source of urea-based fertilizer for farmers, just our planting season started? Wait and see what bread, cooking oil, corn, beef, vegetables and other farm products cost in a couple of months (if available at all!).

Finally – did he who said he would never invade another country while chopping off valuable departments and agencies (e.g., Education, USAID, Voice of America, PBS/NPR, etc.) to supposedly reduce the national debt – realize that this war would be costing us about one billion dollars a day?

No, I don’t think he did any of those things; nor did he realize any of those things. And the world is paying for it.
