Every home has a project waiting.

The to-do list often starts small: fixing a drafty window, cleaning an overly-ignored carpet or working on an air conditioner that struggles through another hot afternoon.

Those small frustrations can often have a way of turning into bigger renovation plans. A remodel imagined, a repair postponed or an upgrade long overdue might be a headache for you, but a simple fix for local experts.

For three days in March, homeowners can bring those ideas to the Norris Penrose Event Center and find solutions under one roof at the Colorado Springs Remodeling Expo.

The event runs noon-6 p.m., Friday, March 13; 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Saturday, March 14; and 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Sunday, March 15, at 1045 Lower Gold Camp Road. Admission is $5 for adults, with free entry for children under 18.

Homeowners will have a chance to explore options in smart home automation, flooring solutions, basement finishing and more. 

Some featured local businesses include Independent Construction and Remodel, HOMEfix, Kitchen Tune-Up Colorado Springs and Colorado Living. 

Eco Air Solutions of Colorado and owner Brooke Goranson will be talking about and showing fans at the expo.

“For the most part, people don’t really understand how a fan works versus air conditioning,” Goranson said. “They don’t make a decision based on the full information. Shows like this are meant to walk people through the differences between the two …”

Exclusively selling whole-house fans, Eco Air Solutions will offer a $300 discount at the show.

Another vendor, Premier Carpet Cleaning, will set up in a 10-by-10-foot booth featuring visuals of its work and information on odor remediation, smoke and water damage, and fire or flood cleanup. 

“We love working with folks because there are some things that the average homeowner struggles with,” owner Robert Yockel said. “Odor is the most common problem, and they don’t understand the science of it, so they tend to follow old wives’ tales that make it worse. With our services, we offer odor removal, specialty treatments and repairs, along with other services.” 

After being in business for almost 21 years, the local carpet cleaning company will participate in its first remodeling show. 

“We’re going to be offering a voucher for free room cleaning with any minimum purchase,” he said. “As long as you get something done, we’ll do a whole extra room at no charge, which is basically a $60 purchase value for free.” 

Along with the discounts offered by Premier Carpet Cleaning and Eco Air Solutions, several vendors will feature event-only specials and in-person consultations, giving homeowners added incentive to start their next project.
