Deputies forcefully stop wrong way driver on I-25 near Fountain, Colorado Springs
A woman driving the wrong way on Interstate 25 in February was arrested by El Paso County sheriff’s deputies, who forcefully stopped the vehicle, the office announced Thursday.
The driver, Gloria Ramos Pena, 42, did not stop for deputies attempting a traffic stop and was forced into the center median as other vehicles approached head-on.
Deputies had initially received reports of a driver traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of the interstate around 3:30 a.m. Feb. 22 near Exit 128 in Fountain, the release states. Pena was located near the interstate exit for South Academy Boulevard and was soon stopped to prevent a collision with other vehicles.
No one was injured in the forceful stop by deputies, according to the release.
Pena was arrested on suspicion of felony vehicular eluding, driving under the influence, driving under the influence per se, reckless endangerment, reckless driving, driving without a license and several other traffic violations.
