Pikes Pick: Wine Festival of Colorado Springs kicks off in style at ICONS Colorado

Cocktails & ICONS debuted last year as a kickoff for the Wine Festival of Colorado Springs and quickly became a crowd favorite. The cocktail-focused class returns 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at ICONS Colorado, 16 E. Kiowa St.

The session will be led by Michaela Hightower, who, along with Casey Helm, own The Parlor, where they host wine and spirits classes.

“We are starting off serving a white wine, tincho style,” Hightower said. “Then we will have three different cocktails, using three different spirits, created three different ways — a ‘sip, shake, stir, shot’ concept — so guests can learn the techniques as well as the history behind the spirits.”

Tincho style refers to an Argentinian wine spritz traditionally made with Torrontés wine. Small bites accompany the drinks, with live music and a show following. Details: tinyurl.com/yc5k2j86.
