Area teams advance in state basketball tournament

The No. 8-seeded Palmer Ridge girls’ basketball team defeated Tri-Lakes rival Lewis-Palmer 62-46 Saturday to advance to the third round of the CHSAA Class 4A State Tournament. The Bears will now face No. 8 seed Pueblo East on March 7, with the winner of that game advancing to the Great 8.

Lewis-Palmer, the No. 25 seed, earned its spot in the second round with a 54-46 win over Rampart on Feb. 25. Palmer Ridge got there via a bye.

The Lewis-Palmer boys team pounded No. 25-seed Evergreen 76-53 in the second round of the state tournament.

The No. 8-seeded Rangers faced No. 9 Pueblo South on Tuesday, which was past the deadline for this issue.
