A pair of Minnesota Duluth power plays derailed Colorado College’s chances at a weekend sweep. 

The No. 9 Bulldogs struck twice in the third period to tie visiting Colorado College 2-2 on Saturday.  After a scoreless overtime, the Tigers fell in the shootout for an extra point toward conference standings. The contest concluded the regular season and CC finished sixth in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference standings. The Tigers will travel to No. 4 Western Michigan for the quarterfinals of the conference tournament next week.  

CC (13-15-6, 7-11-6) built a two-goal lead off the stick of freshman left wing Brandon Lisowsky. The rookie out of Port Coquitlam, British Columbia, scored his first goal of the night on the Tigers’ first shot just 1:50 into the game. He received a cross-ice pass from junior right wing Drew Montgomery and beat Minnesota Duluth goaltender Adam Gajan. 

After a scoreless middle frame, Lisowsky struck again at the beginning of the third. Once again, Lisowsky found paydirt at the left circle at 1:29 for his seventh score of the season. 

The Bulldogs responded later in the period. Top-line center Zam Plante scored right after CC killed off an interference penalty at 9:28, and Plante scored his second goal, on the man advantage, at 16:47. 

Freshman goalie Jackson Unger received the start for the Tigers on Saturday. He finished with 32 saves as the Bulldogs outshot the Tigers 34-22.
