UCCS leads Learfield Directors’ Cup Division II standings after most successful fall season in school history 

The University of Colorado Colorado Springs is ranked No. 1 in the 2025–26 Learfield Directors’ Cup Division II Fall Standings. 

The Learfield Directors’ Cup, released by The National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) on Thursday, is an annual award based on a school’s finish in NCAA championships. The Mountain Lions earn the No. 1 spot in Division II with 289.50 points to lead all 124 ranked teams.

UCCS is joined by North Carolina (Division I), Tufts (Division III), and Indiana Wesleyan (NAIA) for the top spots in the respective divisions.  

“This fall provided so many amazing moments!” said UCCS Executive Director of Athletics Nathan Gibson in a press release. “I see every day the hard work put in by our coaches, staff and student athletes to accomplish at this level, so it is truly humbling to be recognized as the No. 1 institution in the Learfield Directors’ Cup this fall!”

The Mountain Lions are celebrating the achievement during the women’s and men’s basketball games at Gallogly Event Center on Thursday. Celebration activities include free concessions for students and a $10,000 half-court shot opportunity.

UCCS FALL SPORTS ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Volleyball — The Mountain Lions (26-4, 13-1 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference) earned the program’s first RMAC regular season title (shared with MSU Denver) to clinch the No. 2 seed in the NCAA South Central Regional. It was their second-ever NCAA postseason match in program history. 

Men’s soccer —UCCS (12-6-5, 7-2-1 Rocky Mountain Conference) was the RMAC regular season and tournament champions, both for the first time in program history. The RMAC title clinched the No. 10 seed in the NCAA Division II Super Region 4, where the Lions advanced to the third round of the NCAA DII Tournament for the first time in program history.

Women’s soccer —The Lions (14-3-6, 8-1-3 Rocky Mountain Conference) fell in the RMAC semifinal match, but earned the No. 4 seed in the South Central Region of the NCAA Division II Tournament, where UCCS fell to Dallas Baptist in the South Central Region final in overtime.     

Men’s cross country — UCCS finished fourth in the Rocky Mountain Championship, sixth at the NCAA South Central Regional meet, and 13th (394 points) out of 34 teams at the NCAA Division II Championship. 

Women’s cross country —The Lions matched a program-best second-place finish at the Rocky Mountain Championship, then went on to earn a program-best second-place finish at the NCAA South Central Regional meet, and placed sixth (208) out of 34 teams at the NCAA Division II Championship. The team earned the most points toward the standings with 73.5.
