Fort Carson fire reaches 30% containment
Fort Carson fire crews are monitoring a blaze that started Wednesday morning in the training area on base.
The fire covered about 350 to 400 acres as of Thursday morning and was 30% contained.
“Our mutual aid partners have returned to their respective areas of operation while Fort Carson Fire continues to attend to and actively monitor the fire,” a Fort Carson spokesperson said in a statement.
The National Weather Service has issued a red flag warning until 6 p.m. Thursday, indicating high fire danger.
Winds are expected to reach 15 to 20 mph, the agency said. The daily high is also expected to reach 65 degrees.
