Colorado Springs police are looking for three burglary suspects who allegedly opened fire when security personnel confronted them early Tuesday, law enforcement officials said.

Officers responded to the 700 block of Citadel Drive East after a 12:40 a.m. shots-fired call, police said. When they arrived, they found two security officers who were unharmed. The suspects had left the scene.

Investigators determined that the suspects gained access to a closed business east of The Citadel’s east-side parking lot by first breaking into a nearby vacant business. When a security officer confronted them, they fled, with at least one suspect firing several shots, according to police.

Another person reportedly fired several shots at a second security officer before the trio drove away.

No injuries were reported, and police said the suspects were unidentified as of Tuesday morning.
