In this weekly feature, we’re celebrating the best of Colorado Springs’ food and drink scene ー as determined by voters in the 2025 Best of the Springs (thebestofthesprings.com). We’ll throw in our own recommendation, too. 

Up this week: breakfast. 

Gold: Urban Egg

For many in Colorado Springs and beyond ー the brand is found around Kansas and Texas, too ー there’s no better way to start the day. “Our goal is to brighten your day,” reads Urban Egg’s website. They do it with locally sourced products, from the eggs for Benedicts, to the sausage for scrambles, to the ingredients sweetening pancake flights. Take your pick from cinnamon swirl, strawberry cheesecake, blueberry streusel and more. 28B S. Tejon St., 5262 N. Nevada Ave., 5925 Dublin Blvd.

Silver: The Omelette Parlor 

Often on weekends, the parking lot is full and the line is out the door. That’s the scene of an institution beloved for generations. And it’s far from just omelets at the Omelette Parlor. Best of the Springs voters have praised the pancakes, too. 900 E. Fillmore St.

Bronze: Mountain View Cafe and Catering 

The little cafe serves the little community of Black Forest. But clearly, the people of the city abroad have taken notice. The menu is billed as a “perfect combination of the bold and traditional,” including a sweet and spicy sausage gravy, a crab and avocado omelet, a cordon bleu skillet and stuffed French toast. 11424 Black Forest Road

Our recommendation: King’s Chef Diner 

A tough call, as we’re obsessed with the biscuit sandwiches at Denver Biscuit Co. But we’re slightly more obsessed with the breakfast burrito at this downtown staple dating to 1956. Simply put: It’s one of our favorite bites in the Springs. 131 E. Bijou St.
