Colorado Springs police on Monday arrested a man and woman suspected of firing several gunshots into an apartment, narrowly missing a child inside, according to an online blotter entry.

Crystal Burke, 33, and Tristan Price, 40, face several felony charges, including multiple counts of attempted murder, police said.

Officers responded to a 12:55 a.m. call about a shooting at a residence in the 300 block of University Drive, near South Academy Boulevard and Airport Road, officials said. The suspects were not on the scene when police arrived, but the resident couple told police that they and their 5-year-old daughter were sleeping when a woman started pounding on their door, calling out the name of a person who did not live there.

When the woman tried to force her way inside, the male resident secured the door and armed himself with a pistol, police said. Someone then fired several gunshots into the apartment, missing the homeowner and hitting the wall of the child’s bedroom. The father returned fire and the suspects drove off. No one was injured in the exchange, police said.

Shortly after receiving descriptions of the suspect’s car, officers saw a matching vehicle near East Boulder and Pitkin streets. When they stopped the vehicle, they found “items related to the shooting investigation and a “large amount” of narcotics, officials said. Burke and Price were then taken into custody.
