Woman arrested after hourslong standoff: Colorado Springs police

Colorado Springs police on Tuesday arrested a woman after an hourslong standoff, according to an online blotter entry.

Amy Scheppach, 51, faces multiple felony and misdemeanor charges, police said.

At about 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, officers responded to a call for service at a residence in the 1000 block of Hans Brinker Street. When they arrived, they saw a woman inside the home and learned that she had several outstanding arrest warrants.

Ignoring commands to exit the home, the woman barricaded herself inside, threatened the officers and claimed that she had access to a gun, police said.

Issuing a shelter-in-place order for the surrounding area, police called in assistance from tactical enforcement, K-9 units and explosive ordnance specialists to serve a search warrant on the home, officials said.

After several hours, Scheppach was taken into custody and the shelter-in-place order was lifted. No injuries were reported.
