30 seconds to pull a piece of art off the wall at fundraiser near Colorado Springs
On your marks, get set, and score a piece of art.
You might show up empty-handed to the second annual Off the Wall event, but you’ll leave with a piece of art by an artist in the Pikes Peak region, such as Vicki Mynhier, John DeFrancesco, Jennifer Rausch, Walt Moore, Kathleen Seelye and Rhonda Delmolino.
However, acquiring your art is a little trickier than you might imagine. Three tiers of tickets exist: Regular Pool, $65; Sprinter’s Pool, $125; and Eat My Dust Pool, $175.

Tickets will be randomly drawn, beginning with the Eat My Dust Pool and ending with the Regular Pool. The person whose ticket is drawn has 30 seconds to pluck a piece of art off the wall. So if you have your eye on a particular prize, it behooves you to buy a higher-tiered ticket for a better chance at getting what you want. Tickets are limited.
“Everybody really enjoys it,” said Mynhier, president of the Palmer Lake Arts Council. “They start calling names, and that person goes and gets their piece of art. You don’t know what they’re going to come back with.”
Last year’s inaugural event raised $2,500 for the Arts Council. The nonprofit uses the money to bring arts events and activities to the region, such as last year’s Chautauqua Palmer Lake, which brought a score of humanities to the tiny town.
The event is 6-9 p.m. Saturday. One ticket includes art, appetizers, drinks and dessert. It’s at Secret Window, 47 Third St., Monument; 719-460-4179, plartscouncil.org/event-details/off-the-wall.
