Cupid is coming to one Colorado town. Love, chocolate and heart-shaped food will rule the day as Loveland’s annual Sweetheart Festival returns Saturday, filling downtown with a variety of Valentine-themed festivities.

Running from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Foundry Plaza, the free event celebrates Loveland’s 80-year legacy as the nation’s Sweetheart City, with live ice sculpting, fire and art demonstrations, musical and dance performances, and community activities for all ages.

Complementing the family-friendly entertainment throughout downtown are costume contests for Little Miss Valentine and Little Mister Cupid at the Rialto Theater Center at 228 E. 4th St.

Later, the theater will show the iconic film “The Princess Bride” at 3 p.m., followed by a love-themed comedy show featuring Lisa Lane and Vinnie Montez at 7:30 p.m.  

The lineup also includes the annual Loveland Valentine’s Day Group Wedding and Vow Renewal Ceremony at 3 p.m. at the Pulliam Community Building, 545 Cleveland Ave. Couples can exchange vows or renew commitments in a customized ceremony complete with music chosen by participants, keepsake photos, signature wedding cupcakes and a commemorative lock to “lock their love” on Loveland’s iconic love-lock sculptures.
