Good Samaritans help Colorado Springs police officer detain Walmart shoplifting suspect
Two good Samaritans helped a Colorado Springs police officer detain a shoplifting suspect who was resisting arrest Sunday, according to an online blotter entry.
Nicholas Arnaud, 35, is being held on $10,000 bail and faces several felony and misdemeanor charges related to the incident, police said.
At about 2:10 p.m. Sunday, officers were dispatched to a Walmart on Murray Boulevard to help an officer who was in need of assistance. Investigators learned that the officer challenged a suspected shoplifter and caught him as he was attempting to flee, officials said.
When the suspect began fighting with the officer, two bystanders stepped in to help. Once the suspect was under control, the good Samaritans left the scene before they could be identified, according to police.
The officer sustained minor injuries and was able to return to duty.
