Colorado Springs police saw a fatal shooting, two train collisions and an escapee last week, among other offenses, with law enforcement making 330 arrests in El Paso County.

From Feb. 1 to Feb. 7, the Colorado Springs Police Department posted 19 blotter entries to its public database of incidents approved for release. Here is a recap of those entries:

On Sunday, Feb. 1, one pedestrian was hospitalized after being struck by a train near Mesa Road and Cache La Poudre Street. The victim was alive with serious injuries when medical personnel arrived at the scene. Police say the area has clearly posted “No Trespassing” signs.

On Monday, a head-on collision on Highway 115, south of East Cheyenne Mountain Boulevard, killed two drivers and hospitalized a third. Police say a vehicle was heading south on the highway, crossed over into northbound traffic and struck a second vehicle head-on; a third vehicle collided shortly after.

Also on Monday, police were in the area of East Bijou Street and Balfour Avenue for an operation when they attempted to contact a suspicious male. The male fled and fired shots at uniformed officers, striking one of them. The officers fired back at the suspect, and he was hospitalized in serious condition. The injured officer was hospitalized with serious but not life-threatening injuries.

On Tuesday, a suspect in CSPD custody was being treated at a hospital when he escaped through bathroom ceiling tiles and ran from the premises.
The suspect, Brandon Wilson, was located shortly after, when a nearby resident reported that a man broke into their backyard and was hiding in their covered hot tub.

On Wednesday, police executed search warrants in the 6700 block of Mission Road and the 4100 block of Kayak Court, leading to the arrest of two juveniles and one adult, David Willingham, 21, in connection with a burglary and weapon offenses. Police recovered a stolen handgun, a shotgun and a handgun without a serial number.

On Thursday, one man was found dead after being shot in the 2500 block of Gunnison Street. Police say all involved parties are accounted for. Anyone with information is asked to call 719-444-7000 or 719-634-7867 to report anonymously.

Also on Thursday, police concluded an investigation into a woman, Denise Rohrbaugh, 35, who is considered a prolific offender involved with identity theft, stealing vehicles, mail theft and narcotics. At the time of her arrest, police say they learned of a possible 60 additional victims.

Also on Thursday, police were informed that a wanted fugitive, Richard Capek, was in Colorado Springs. The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office reported that Capek had an AR-15 rifle in his possession and threatened to shoot law enforcement if they attempted to arrest him. Police approached Capek in the parking lot of a Walmart at 8250 Razorback Road, and after repeatedly resisting, he was confronted by K-9 Riggs and Capek surrendered. Police allegedly found ammunition designed to puncture bullet-proof vests in his possession.

On Friday afternoon, police responded to a collision between a motorcycle and a pickup truck. Investigation revealed that the motorcycle T-boned the truck, with speed a potential factor in the crash. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene and the truck driver was treated for minor injuries at a hospital.

Other incidents at a glance:

• On Sunday, Feb. 1, police responded to an armed robbery shortly after 3 a.m. at a business in the 700 block of Cheyenne Meadows Road. When they arrived, they learned an unidentified male threatened an employee with a firearm before leaving with an undisclosed amount of cash. Officers searched the area but did not locate the suspect.
• Also on Feb. 1, police responded to a reported disturbance in the 2600 block of Verde Drive when they located a victim with stab wounds. The victim was allegedly stabbed in the 500 block of South Circle Drive, several hours before police responded to the disturbance. No suspects have been identified.
• On Monday, a pedestrian was struck by a train near the 200 block of Woodmen Road. The pedestrian survived with “possible” serious injuries, and was cited for trespassing.
• On Tuesday, police arrested a suspect, Isaiah Salazar, after he allegedly repeatedly returned to his ex-girlfriend’s house to damage vehicles, at one point charging at her with an unknown object. When police attempted to detain Salazar, he became noncompliant, and officers used a Taser before taking him into custody on several felony charges.
• Also on Tuesday, 21-year-old Christopher Bennings was arrested in connection with a December 2025 shooting, in which a man was shot in the leg. Police say Bennings “confessed to the shooting.”
• Also on Tuesday, police arrested a man on a felony arrest warrant related to domestic violence after collaborating with several departments to track and safely arrest the suspect.
• On Wednesday, police and the Colorado Springs Fire Department responded to a structure fire in the 3200 block of North Chestnut Street. The fire was successfully extinguished and nobody was injured in the incident.
• Also on Wednesday, police announced that a sexually violent predator, Mitchell Wayne Bishop, 66, was released into the community. Police say to call 719-444-7672 with questions regarding the announcement.
• Also on Wednesday, a police officer was working an extra duty shift at a grocery store when a shoplifter was identified. The officer attempted to stop the suspect, Matthew Reinke, and he resisted, striking the officer while trying to get away. The officer sustained minor injuries and Reinke was arrested.
• On Thursday, police arrested a suspect, Zackrey Snell, 24, in connection with a January shooting, that was reported by the victim’s child. Snell faces several felony charges including attempted murder.
