The Walsenburg Police Department on Friday arrested a man they say was involved in a suspected fatal hit-and-run crash in the small southern Colorado town Sunday night.

Carlos Daniel Vincuna, 40, was booked into the Huerfano County Detention Center on suspicion of vehicular homicide, according to a news release by the department.

Investigators found a man’s body lying in the street just before 9 p.m. at West Ninth Street and South Hendren Avenue, according to a news release from the department.

Police determined that the man, whose name hasn’t been released, was hit by a vehicle. Emergency workers attempted lifesaving efforts, but the man died on scene.
