Claudio Montijo Avila, 36, was arrested in Trinidad by Colorado State Patrol on Jan. 4 for the murder of 45-year-old Antonio Jiminez-Garibay, according to a news release by Colorado Springs police.

Avila allegedly shot and killed Jiminez-Garibay on Oct. 2, 2022 in the 4200 block of Galley Road in Colorado Springs. In April 2024, police obtained an arrest warrant for first-degree murder for Avila, according to the release.
