A vehicle went off the road and struck a “fixed object” overnight in east Colorado Springs, sending the driver to the hospital in critical condition in an apparent drunken driving crash, according to an online blotter entry from city police.

Officers were notified of the collision at Galley and Wooten roads shortly after 2 a.m. Saturday, and they found the driver seriously injured when they arrived on scene.

“At this time, impairment is suspected, and speed is still being investigated,” the Police Department reported in the blotter entry.

The intersection was closed for several hours as authorities conducted an investigation.
