Multiple Big 5 Sporting Goods stores in northern Colorado are closing, but southern Colorado’s locations have been mostly spared, according to employees.

At least four stores in the Denver and Fort Collins areas are set to close between Jan. 17 and mid-March, Gazette news partner 9News reported. In the Pikes Peak region, only the store scheduled to close is the one in Cañon City on Jan. 18, according to a store employee.

Both Colorado Springs stores are staying open, staff at both locations confirmed Thursday.

As other locations shut down, the Springs stores, located at 1810 W. Uintah Street and 5075 N. Academy Blvd., advertised clearance sales on signs posted on the windows.

Staff at the stores said they are receiving some inventory from other stores that are shutting down.

Big 5 Sporting Goods has not responded to a request for comment on the closures.

Big 5 Sporting Goods has more than 400 locations across 11 western states, according to the company’s website. In October, the company merged with Worldwide Golf and Capitol Hill Group, according to Yahoo News. Big 5 survived the merger as a wholly owned subsidiary of the partnership, the report said.

In metro Denver, three stores are closing:

• 1430 S. Colorado Blvd.
• 5185 Kipling St.
• 10051 E. Iliff Ave.

In Fort Collins, one store will close:

• 2211 S. College Ave.
