Arrest by Homeland Security, Colorado Springs police ends shelter-in-place order
Colorado Springs police assisted Homeland Security Investigations in contacting a suspect who ran from authorities Wednesday, prompting a shelter-in-place order in the southeast part of the city.
Agents were serving a federal warrant for Yorvis Carrascal-Campo in the 1400 block of Grand Overlook Street when he fled and jumped over neighborhood fences, according to a blotter entry by CSPD. He faces charges of racketeering conspiracy, murder in aid of racketeering, aiding and abetting, and conspiracy.
Numerous CSPD units were requested to help locate Carrascal-Campo in the area after HSI failed to arrest him in its initial contact. Law enforcement eventually arrested Carrascal-Campo after CSPD used a drone and police dogs to track the suspect to a shed in a nearby backyard.
Carrascal-Campo was booked into the El Paso County jail without incident.
