Pedestrian killed in Colorado Springs evening crash
One person is dead after police say a vehicle hit a pedestrian Friday near an intersection north of downtown.
According to the Colorado Springs Police Department, the vehicle was traveling northbound on North Cascade Avenue near East Espanola Street. The pedestrian was crossing North Cascade when the collision occured.
The call came in to police around 5:47 p.m., leading first responders to find the pedestrian dead at the scene. The victim’s name has not yet been released.
The driver of the vehicle stayed on scene and cooperated with responders, according to police. The CSPD Major Crash Team has assumed the investigation. The CSPD says neither impairment nor speed are thought to be factors in the crash, and no arrest has been listed.
The East Espanola and North Cascade intersection was closed for several hours Friday by investigators.
