Phone apps, websites and artificial intelligence have their place, but some things are best handled in person, said Nick Vedder, show manager for the Colorado Springs Home Building and Remodeling Show.

“Some of these projects are difficult to address over the phone, or through a website,” Vedder said. “They really require a face-to-face conversation.”

Up to 5,000 people are expected to meet face-to-face with the top building and remodeling experts in the region at the three-day home improvement expo, held at the Norris Penrose Event Center. Attendees can learn the latest innovations and trends about every aspect of the field – kitchens and bathrooms, floors and ceilings, attics and basements, and much more.

“Our events in Colorado Springs have always been popular,” said event coordinator Layne Knutson. “People love the venue. It’s a good opportunity for people who are kicking off projects, or planning for the year ahead.”

This year’s event will feature about 150 vendors, exhibitors and experts, officials said.

“The shows are a resource for homeowners who want to get educated and informed,” Vedder said. “That’s what comes first for us – we want to help people make good decisions about their homes.”

Remodeling experts will also hold several seminars and workshops over the weekend, covering topics like energy efficiency, making your home more pet-friendly, and revamping the kitchen.

“Kitchen upgrades are one of the more popular topics at out shows,” Vedder said. “Updating the kitchen is something everyone either wants to do, or has thought about.”

Currently in its 33^rd year, the Colorado Springs Home Building and Remodeling Show draws experienced do-it-yourselfers and neophytes alike, Knutson said.

“For any person who might need to discuss a project, whether that’s in the pre-planning stage, or if they were trying to do it themselves and realized they’re in over their head, or if their in the middle of a contract and want to go in a different direction, it’s a great resource,” he said.

“It’s an opportunity to talk through projects, get advice, see what’s out there, and immediately get quotes all in one convenient spot.”
