Colorado Springs experienced record-high December weather

Colorado Springs ended 2025 on a high note, when it came to temperatures.

Data from the National Weather Service reported that the city averaged a high of 55.4 degrees throughout December, which is 10.8 degrees higher than the monthly average. Low temperatures last month averaged 26.6 degrees, 7.9 degrees above the monthly average.

According to meteorologist Alex O’Brien of Gazette news partner KOAA, December’s mean temperature of 41 degrees tied with 1933 for the warmest on record in Colorado Springs. These records date back to 1894.

While the overall month tied for the warmest on record, Colorado Springs broke multiple daily records. Dec. 15, 16, 19, 22 and 25 all recorded new highs, with Dec. 22 coming in the hottest at 72 degrees.

Despite the unusual heat and plenty of dry days, the month’s moisture came out just above average with a recorded .36 inches of precipitation for an annual total of 16.28. The year’s last dash of moisture came largely from an early blast of snow on Dec. 3, which yielded .34 inches.

In December, Colorado Springs recorded 4.9 inches of snow, which is 0.8 inches higher than the monthly total.
