Over 700 flights delayed at DIA as Denver gets 2 inches of snow

As Denverites woke up to a blanket of fresh snow Sunday, those traveling in and out of Denver International Airport were also feeling the effects of the late-December storm.

As of 6:30 p.m. Sunday, 739 flights at DIA had been delayed, with 15 canceled entirely, according to flightaware.com.

Of the delays, 249 were Southwest Airlines flights, making up over 43% of the airline’s traffic in and out of the airport Sunday. United Airlines’ 211 delays ranked the second most of any airline.

The airport received 2.2 inches of snow as of Sunday morning, according to the National Weather Service Boulder. While temperatures dropped to around 30 degrees Sunday morning, they are expected to go back up into the mid-50s next week.
