Two people were arrested Saturday after what Colorado Springs police said was a possible attempted burglary turned into an assault.

City police responded to a condemned building in the 4300 block of East Pikes Peak Avenue just before 11:30 a.m. Saturday and found a security guard beaten, according to an online blotter entry.

Officers learned the guard had contacted people who were attempting to enter the building. “Multiple adults” armed with bats and tools allegedly began assaulting the guard. The guard was taken to a hospital for serious injuries, police said.

Two people, Craig Mauro and Janel Glasgow, were taken into custody.
