7 holiday lights displays to see in Southern Colorado 

One of the most enchanting parts of the Christmas season is the glow of lights all around us. 

This year, you find captivating holiday lights display across Southern Colorado — whether you’re in Pueblo, Cañon City or right here in Colorado Springs. 

Check out these 7 events and locations for festive holiday lights viewing to celebrate the season with family and friends:

Magic of Lights

When: Through Jan. 3 

Where: 16650 Midway Ranch Road, Fountain 

Head to the Pikes Peak International Raceway, south of Colorado Springs, for a drive-through holiday lights experience with holiday scenes and characters. Stay in the comfort of your own car or park and get out for hot chocolate and visit with Santa. The cost is per car, and visitors can either purchase ahead of time or at the gate. 

Bridge of Lights 

When: Dec. 12-14, 19-21 

Where: 4218 County Road 3A, Cañon City 

The Royal Gorge Bridge & Park is getting a Christmas makeover for their Bridge of Lights event. Experience an immersive walk through on the bridge with twinkling lights overhead, plus decorate cookies and ornaments; shop at the local Christmas market and enjoy hot cocoa and other treats during your time at America’s Highest Suspension Bridge. Tickets purchased in advance will have a discount. 

Electric Safari 

When: Dec. 5-23, Dec. 25-Jan. 1 

Where: 4250 Cheyenne Mountain Zoo Road 

The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo’s Electric Safari has arrived, bringing animals and holiday lights together for a family-friendly celebration. The event features more than 85 one-of-a-kind light sculptures, illuminated inflatable animals, a holiday-safari themed drone show and opportunities to feed select animals for an additional fee. Electric Safari has consistently ranked among the nation’s top holiday zoo light displays, earning third place in USA TODAY’s 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards from 2019 to 2024. It’s once again in the running this year. 

The Broadmoor 

When: Through early January 

Where: 1 Lake Avenue 

Every year, The Broadmoor showcases holiday lights and decorations both inside and outside of the hotel. Non-overnight guests are invited to visit the interior of the hotel Dec. 8 through Dec. 11 and Dec. 15 through Dec. 18. The inside holiday lights and decor will be removed after Jan. 1, but the outside lights will be up until Mar. 1. 

ElectriCritters 

When: Dec. 12-14, 18 – 23, 26 – 28 

Where: 3455 Nuckolls Avenue, Pueblo 

Located at the Pueblo Zoo, ElectriCritters is a fun family-friendly event during the Christmas season. There are select Santa Sundays where you can take photos with Santa, a members-only night with free popcorn with purchase from the Candy Cane Cafe and a sensory-friendly night that has smaller crowds, softer music and less blinking lights. Purchase your tickets online. 

St. Michael’s Christmas Light Festival 

When: Dec. 12, 13, 19, 20 

Where: 7400 Tudor Road 

Head to St. Michael’s Episcopal Church for a wonderful time walking through 100,000 Christmas lights. Cost is five dollars per family or group with the donation of canned goods or a new toy. These donations support the church’s local outreach partners. Also included are photos with Santa and a giant light maze. For an extra fee, enjoy s’mores and hot chocolate around a fire pit.

Victor and Cripple Creek Holiday Headframe Lighting 

When: Weekends through Jan. 1, plus nightly Dec. 24 – Jan. 1 (weather permitting)  

Where: Best viewing is from Highway 67 and Teller County Roads 81. Self-guided map here. 

Since 1998, giant headframes from the gold mining days have lit up the sky during the holidays around Victor and Cripple Creek. Some of the holiday light displays affixed to the “gallows frames” are around 20 feet tall, and volunteers tend to the generators and line power connections each weekend.
