Good Samaritan shot in Colorado Springs, 1 arrested: Police
An alleged domestic violence incident resulted in a shooting that left one person injured on Saturday, according to Colorado Springs police.
At about 8:40 p.m. Saturday, officers responded to reports of a domestic assault in a parking lot the 800 block of South Circle Drive, between Airport Road and East Fountain Boulevard, police said. A few minutes after the call, a gunshot victim arrived at a local hospital. Investigators later learned that the two incidents were related.
When the domestic assault was taking place, three people tried to intervene, at which time the suspect pulled a gun. As the “good Samaritans” retreated to their vehicle, the suspect opened fire, hitting one person, who sustained “serious but not life-threatening” injuries, officials said.
The suspect, identified as Jovani Martinez Sanches, was found at another location and arrested “without incident,” according to police. Sanches faces felony and misdemeanor charges in connection with the incident.
