Police arrest 2 after allegedly firing gun into Colorado Springs parking lot
Colorado Springs police on Sunday arrested two men suspected of firing a gun into a crowded parking lot, law enforcement officials said.
Zaquan Johnson, 21, and Matthew Burgos, 19, face several felony and misdemeanor charges, including menacing, illegal discharge of a weapon and eluding police.
At around midnight on Sunday, police received calls about a menacing incident in which three people had been threatened with a gun during an unspecified event in the 1600 block of Jet Wing Drive, near East Fountain Boulevard. The suspect reportedly got into a vehicle, fired several shots toward the parking lot, and drove off.
Nearby officers, who had received a description of the suspect’s vehicle, began a pursuit. When the suspect refused to stop, a “vehicle intervention” maneuver was used to stop the car, and the three occupants were detained. After investigating and collecting evidence, which included at least one gun, police arrested Burgos and Johnson.
No injuries have been reported in connection with the incident.
