A Colorado Springs police officer sustained minor injuries after reportedly being assaulted while attempting to arrest a woman involved in an alleged family disturbance Saturday morning.

The department said officers were dispatched to the disturbance in the 5400 block of Sunset Ridge Drive around 9:53 a.m. During the investigation, officers took the suspect into custody on suspicion of violating a protection order.

After the suspect, identified as Seantia McCray, was taken to a cruiser, she reportedly attempted to kick out the windows of the vehicle. Once detained in leg shackles, she allegedly kicked one of the officers.

McCray was taken to the El Paso County jail, police said.
