The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office has detained one person after a shooting in Stratmoor Hills killed one person and injured another on Wednesday afternoon.

Deputies were dispatched to the 4400 block of Millburn Drive after receiving multiple reports of shots fired around 1:30 p.m., according to Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Kurt Smith.

They arrived to find one deceased male and an injured female, who was transported to a hospital. One person was detained at the scene without incident and is cooperating with law enforcement.

The sheriff’s office is expected to be in the area for several hours to conduct their investigation.

According to Peak Alerts, the Sheriff’s Office issued a shelter-in-place order for a quarter mile radius at 1:51 p.m., but the order was lifted minutes later.
