Small plane crashes in Castle Rock after departing from Colorado Springs
No one was injured after a plane that departed from the Colorado Springs airport crashed on a road in Castle Rock on Monday, according to a release by police.
The single-engine plane took off around 5:30 p.m. and flew over Denver before turning south and crashing at 6:14 p.m. on Prairie Hawk Drive in Castle Rock, just west of Interstate 25. The release stated the roadway remained closed until approximately 8:30 p.m.
The aircraft was manufactured in 1966 and its registered owner, a Manitou Springs resident, received a certificate for it in September, according to the Federal Aviation Administration’s registry.
The last logged flight before the crash appears to be a 41-minute late-afternoon flight departing and arriving from the Colorado Springs Municipal Airport on Nov. 3.
