A senior airman at Buckley Space Force Base was found guilty this week of attempted arson and threatening domestic violence.

A military judge found Desean Hodge guilty of attempting to set a vehicle on fire and threating his spouse, according to an official statement provided by a spokesperson at the base. Members of the military can select a court-martial by judge rather than a jury.

The judgment was in line with Hodge’s plea, according to the statement.

Hodge was accused of attempting to set a car on fire in December 2020. In November 2023 and April 2024 he threatened to kill his spouse, according to official documents.

He also threatened various kinds of violence, including stabbing her, strangling her and shooting her, the documents said.

Hodge had been facing accusations of physical assault as well, including strangulation.

The military judge gave Hodge a bad conduct discharge. He was also sentenced to 12 months of confinement, total forfeitures of pay, reduction in rank to airman basic, and a reprimand, the official statement said. Hodge had been a member of the 460th Civil Engineer Squadron.

“The Department of the Air Force takes allegations of domestic abuse seriously and remains dedicated to ensuring the safety and well-being of all service members and their families,” the official statement said.

Leadership on base continues to emphasize prevention, education and intervention efforts across the installation, it said.
