Qdoba plans new locations around Colorado Springs
More Qdoba locations are coming to the greater Colorado Springs area, part of one of the largest development deals in the San Diego-based company’s history.
Barry Dubin, founder and CEO of B Wild Investments LLC, has agreed to develop 50 new Qdoba restaurants in the Mountain West, throughout Colorado, Alaska, Nevada, New Mexico and Utah. The brand announced the agreement in September.
Dubin will focus on developing locations in Albuquerque, N.M.; Las Vegas; Salt Lake City; St. George, Utah; and areas surrounding Colorado Springs, a news release said.
Calling the agreement a “proud milestone” for both parties, Dubin added in part in the release: “I believe deeply in the brand’s strength, its experienced leadership team and its position in one of the most attractive categories in the restaurant industry. Core to our investment thesis at B Wild, we are excited to be acquiring a scaled platform of high-quality assets while signing an agreement to perpetuate the growth of Qdoba in very attractive territories.”
It was unclear how many Qdoba restaurants would be developed in Colorado as part of the agreement, where they would be located in the Colorado Springs area, or the expected timeline of development.
Dubin said no further information was available currently, as it is still early in the development process.
“I’ve known Barry for 15 years, since I was President of KFC, where he was my largest franchise partner,” Qdoba CEO John Cywinski said in the release. “Barry is an exceptional leader, strategist and operator, and I’m absolutely thrilled he is joining the Qdoba brand.”
Before founding B Wild Investments, Dubin co-founded KBP Brands LLC in 2011, according to the B Wild website. From 2011 to 2024, he led all aspects of the company’s mergers and acquisitions, including the acquisition of more than 1,000 restaurants in transactions with KFC, Taco Bell, Arby’s and Sonic. Dubin resigned his executive role with KBP last year to establish B Wild Investments.
He is also the executive chairman of US Laundry LLC, the largest Tide Laundromat franchisee in the nation.
His recent agreement with Qdoba comes during a period of rapid growth for the brand. With plans to develop nearly 600 future restaurants, Qdoba is targeting expansion in Alabama, California, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Tennessee and Texas, the company said.
Earlier in October, B Wild Investments acquired 20 Qdoba locations across Colorado’s Western Slope, including all six Colorado Springs restaurants, and four surrounding Anchorage, Alaska. The transaction makes B Wild Investments one of Qdoba’s largest U.S. franchise groups, the company said.
Qdoba is building “impressive momentum,” its Chief Development Officer Jeremy Vitaro said last month.
“With strong operators like Barry joining our system and a powerful brand in the most attractive category in the restaurant industry, Qdoba is well-positioned for sustained growth and long-term franchise success as we aim to double our footprint by 2032,” he said.
Qdoba has more than 820 locations throughout 45 states as well as in Canada, Puerto Rico, Japan and South Korea.
The brand serves fast-casual Mexican food like burritos, tacos, quesadillas, nachos, bowls, salads and more.
