Air Force graduate Ethan Taylor taken in first round of NBA G-League Draft

Air Force graduate Ethan Taylor’s basketball career will continue, as he was selected in the first round of the NBA’s G-League Draft on Saturday.

Taylor finished draft day as a member of the Santa Cruz Warriors, the affiliate of the Golden State Warriors. Earlier in the day he was drafted No. 9 overall by the Greensboro Swarm (Charlotte Hornets) before being traded.

A four-year starter for Air Force, Taylor scored 1,324 points in a career that spanned from 2022-25. He holds the career record with 121 starts and is the only player in program history with 1,000 points, 500 rebounds and 300 assists.

Taylor played in the NBA Summer League with the Los Angeles Lakers, scoring 21 points in five games.

“I think I’ve left everything on the table,” Taylor told The Gazette in Las Vegas while playing in the Summer League. “That’s all I can ask for. Leaving no stones unturned. That’s the mentality I’ve had through this whole process.”

A 2025 graduate, Taylor is utilizing a new policy that allows each service academy to permit up to three athletes with viable opportunities in professional sports to be transferred to the Selected Reserves as commissioned officers to “participate in efforts to recruit and retain members of the armed forces.”
