An autopsy by the El Paso County Coroner’s Office revealed the identity of the victim of a fatal crash earlier this month, when a car collided with a house in west Colorado Springs.

On Oct. 10, 19-year-old Isai Martinez was traveling near Uintah and 22nd streets when his car collided with an occupied house, police said. Martinez was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, and nobody inside the residence was injured.

The investigation into the collision is ongoing by the Colorado Springs Police Department’s Major Crash Unit, but detectives believe excessive speed was a factor, police said.

The Coroner’s Office conducted an autopsy one day after the crash, on Oct. 11, and identified Martinez as the driver of the vehicle. The Police Department announced the coroner’s finding on Thursday.

This is the 46th traffic fatality in Colorado Springs this year. At this time last year, there were 42 traffic fatalities, according to police.
