Colorado Springs weather: Strong winds prompt Red Flag fire warning

Warm weather, strong winds and low relatively humidity add up to increased potential for wildfire behavior in Colorado Springs and surrounding areas on Monday, according to the National Weather Service in Pueblo.

A Red Flag Warning is in effect for Colorado Springs, Pueblo, and much of the southeast part of the state until 6 p.m., the weather agency announced.

Monday is expected to be sunny, with a high near 68 degrees. Residents should prepare for wind speeds of 10-20 mph, with gusts reaching 30 mph, according to NWS.

Because of the warm weather and high winds residents are advised to refrain from outdoor burning or any activity that could create a spark.
