3 injured in head-on crash in east Colorado Springs; suspected drunken driver arrested
Alcohol is believed to be a primary factor in a head-on collision that left at least one motorist with serious injuries on Sunday, Colorado Springs police said.
Alejandra Gilpalacios, 46, faces charges related to driving under the influence, according to an online blotter entry.
At about 10:50 p.m. Sunday, officers were called to the scene of a two-vehicle crash in the 500 block of South Circle Drive, just south of Airport Road, police said. When they arrived, they found three injured motorists, who were taken to a nearby hospital.
Investigators determined that a white Chevrolet Corvette was heading north on South Circle Drive when a black Mitsubishi sedan, heading south, drifted into the northbound lanes and hit the Corvette head-on.
A passenger in the Corvette suffered serious injuries but is expected to survive, police said.
