A man was arrested following a roughly 2-hour standoff that prompted a shelter-in-place order in Colorado Springs Friday night.

Shortly before 6:30 p.m., Colorado Springs police received a report of shots fired in the 4300 block of Montebello Drive, according to an online police report. While officers were en route, a second call to police indicated that more rounds had been fired and a muzzle flash has been observed inside an apartment at 4372 Montebello Drive, which is just north of Academy Boulevard and Austin Bluffs Parkway.

According to the online report, the apartment’s sole occupant, identified by police as Sean Ciranni, 31, was “heavily intoxicated” and refused to leave the apartment despite multiple requests. A shelter-in-place was issued shortly after 7 p.m.

After roughly two hours of negotiating, the man agreed to leave the apartment; he was taken into custody without incident. The shelter-in-place order was lifted around 8:30 p.m.

Following the arrest, police found that 21 rounds had been fired in the apartment; multiple guns were collected during the execution of a search warrant.

No injuries were reported.

Ciranni was booked into the El Paso County jail and is facing charges including illegal discharge, prohibited use of weapons, and reckless endangerment, according to police.
