Tri-Lakes area to be in the spotlight in December

The Tri-Lakes area will be in the spotlight in December.

FOX 21 will be featuring the area from Dec. 15-21 in one of its popular “We Are” weeks.

Representatives from FOX 21 met with area movers and shakers on Oct. 9 at the Tri-Lakes Chamber of Commerce. The station pitched the concept, which was met with enthusiasm by the attending community members. Several story ideas were discussed as well as locations for live shots.

“We’re looking for an opportunity to showcase the community in a positive light,” FOX 21 News Director Joe Cole said. “Tell good stories; the stories that you know are here and now here’s a venue to share it with southern Colorado.”

According to a handout provided by the station, the week is hoping to “showcase the vibrant spirit, quality of life and unique charm of the Tri-Lakes region.”

The station will be airing daily feature stories and special weather reports focused on the area. It will also be airing advertising and promotion for the week beginning Dec. 8. In addition, a 30-minute program highlighting the community will be produced and a live newscast will be aired from a Tri-Lakes location.

“That’s what we’ve done with these ‘We Are’ weeks. It’s an opportunity to showcase something wonderful going on in these communities,” Cole said. “When you’re given this opportunity to tell great stories, it really perks people’s interest.”

As part of “We Are Tri-Lakes” week, FOX 21 will be offering customized advertising options for local businesses.

“Of course it works in their favor because now people will want to come check this place out,” Cole said. “Our viewing area is huge. We go all the way down to Trinidad.”
